Who We Are

Calvary Baptist Church has been part of the Ritchie community in Edmonton since the 1950s. In 2021, a new leadership team was established, marking the beginning of what has been described as a “church replant.” Calvary embraces servant leadership, fostering an environment focused on discipleship and high church engagement. Our emphasis includes volunteering, participation in home groups, and building meaningful relationships within the church body.

We believe that all believers are part of the priesthood and that spiritual growth happens together—as a family—through active engagement in the life of the church. We hold firmly to the life-changing power of Jesus Christ and believe that, through Christ-centred community, we experience the love and restoration of God.

Core Values

  • Emphasis on the Bible as the authority for our doctrine and teaching, and Jesus as the Living Word of God and Supreme Head of the Church.
  • Functioning as a relationship-based community of believers, pursuing practical ways to bless, encourage, and build caring relationships.
  • A strong belief in the priesthood of all believers, promoting the theme of every member as a minister.
  • Emphasizing Home Groups as an important ingredient in the life of every adult at Calvary.
  • Supporting missionary families and individuals from our body on long-term mission assignments.
  • A determination to prepare and invest in the next generation by embracing Young Adult, Youth, and Children’s ministries.
  • Encouraging the mentorship and nurturing of new believer’s and potential ministry leaders—discipleship!
  • A desire to do ministry within an environment of team leadership and discipleship.
  • Participating as a body in meaningful and fun church events and fellowships.

It defines what we believe and guides how we live, promoting sound doctrine and a pursuit of Jesus Christ. This Preamble emphasizes doctrinal clarity to foster communal unity, grace, and discipleship within our church family.
